Films that I Scored

A proof-of-concept short film that blends genres in a very creative way. Special thanks to Matt Boda of Get it Made for asking me to compose for this short film.

I was very fortunate to be asked by Sharda Karim and Tino Joshua Martinez to compose the score. The experience of scoring this was very fun, and the story is riveting! To this day, Tuskegee is one of my favorite short films I have ever worked on, and it's one you will not forget after watching it!

My first documentary feature film score. This documentary centers around the path from training to retirement of military working dogs and their handlers. Sponsored by KLRU and AFS, this film premiered at the 2016 Austin Film Festival and was well praised for its daring perspective. Special thanks to Director Nancy Schiesari for allowing me to score this incredible film.

A historical fictional short film about racism towards Asians in 1950s Texas. This was directed by my friend, Huay-Bing Law, and I was lucky enough to provide some music for his incredible feat in storytelling. The film won the HBO APA Visionary Award and was a finalist at the 2018 Student Academy Awards. A UT graduate student project. More info here.

A documentary short regarding the lives of inspiring handicapped peoples. The film received a lot of praise from many festivals and was even a semifinalist for the Student Academy Awards. I was very honored to score this. Special thanks to Ty Wilson for bringing me on board this project. A UT undergraduate student project.
A television commercial I got to compose music for, thanks to my friend Danny Levin.

MOTT
An incredible documentary about a cancer survivor directed by my good friend, Schelly Stone. This was selected to show alongside June and other UT shorts at SXSW 2018. A UT undergraduate student project.
Big Winners
My good friend Justin Perez asked me to score his thesis film, which ended up being a very profound piece of work centered around a 1940s diner. I was very lucky to score this film, as I always keep coming back to it. A UT undergraduate student project.
A View From a Bridge
My friend Eric Morton directed and produced a great adaptation of a scene from A View from a Bridge, and I was lucky enough to be asked by him personally to score it. Given the raw emotion of this undergraduate short, the score was more of a subtle undertone, which I considered to be a good challenge in the midst of projects that called for more agility in the score. A UT undergraduate student project.
Cut It Off
A much darker undergraduate short by Eric Morton that displays the psychological turmoil of a man undergoing weight problems in the midst of our pop culture society. Huge thanks to Eric for allowing me to score this art piece. A UT undergraduate student project.
SchooLinks
Eric Morton and Weston Morgan were given a chance to make a promotional video for SXSW 2016, and they hired me to score it. I was very lucky to grab that opportunity.
GTA V Trailer Remake
Decided to make my own version of the PC game trailer for Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V). I personally did not care much for the original version. Used audio from another gameplay video and police sirens from freesound.org. Everything else is all me.
Mars Landing
This is a clip from the Mars Underground documentary special. The entire sound of the video is replaced by an entire sound design mix composed of original music, sound effects, and voiceover by me. At the beginning, there is a piece of JFK's "To the Moon" speech, which I think fits in this video.

Films that I Edited and Scored

Tomatoes
Our film editing professor gave us 15 minutes of footage of tomato picking and asked us to make  a 2-4 minute piece. Having an idea in mind to make this into a documentary intro, I implemented this idea and used a piece of music along with a couple more instruments.

Brothers
Another project from our film editing class, this one was more involving, forcing us to use 90 minutes of MSNBC footage to make a 5-8 minute piece. Given that it gives commentary on the juvenile court system, I decided to emphasize the coldness of the system through the editing as well as embellish it through a subtle scoring.

Staying Together
When I was in Los Angeles, I was lucky enough to intern for Peter Valentino, as he allowed me to edit and score this experimental noir short film starring two of his acting students. Huge thanks to him for allowing me to edit this piece.

The Psychologist
Loosely based off a scene from Ordinary People, this short film by Peter Valentino brings out the best in two of his acting students. Disclaimer: There was no score for this, but we both agreed it did well without it. Huge thanks to Peter for allowing me to edit this.

Bobby and Tiffany
This was the first project by Peter Valentino, which I edited and scored. This is a romantic short film, which brings out the best in two of his students. Huge thanks to Peter for giving me this opportunity.

Films that I Wrote, Directed, Edited, and Scored

Miserere
My very first short film. Directorial and Editorial debut. Huge thanks to my friends and piano professor for pitching in.
Dune
My second short film. I decided to adapt the groundbreaking novel by Frank Herbert, in order to challenge myself as well as the limits of low-budget science fiction. Huge thanks to the actors for making this possible.

EXPENDABLE
My third short film. I wrote an original script centered around the dark side of secret agents, which I believe is a subject that most filmmakers these days dismiss. Big thanks to the actors, Chris Alvarenga and Tom Swift, who made this film shine.
